Transfer News: Arsenal still linked to Manolas, Iwobi could have been a hammer

Arsenal star player, Alex Iwobi has revealed that he was close to becoming a hammer. The Nigerian youngster is having a fine season, enjoying being in the first team and has been instrumental to the gunners surge up the premiership table.

He revealed how things could have been very different as he came close to joining West Ham. He stated

“Arsenal and West Ham were interested in me and Chuba [Akpom], so we were training with both clubs for three years,”

He went on to explain why he joined arsenal while stating he had no disrespect for West Ham. He said

“I decided to sign for Arsenal because I supported them back then and I always saw them as the bigger club, no disrespect to West Ham.”

In other transfer news and rumors , sources claim that Arsenal are interested in signing Hull youngster Josh Tymon in the January transfer window. The gunners will face stiff competition from Everton who have also been keeping an eye on the talented defender.

Arsene Wenger is still interested in signing Roma defender, Kostas Manolas who could cost around 30 million pounds. Though Kostas has a contract with the Italian club till 2019, interest of top European clubs including Arsenal has grown after it was revealed that the Greek refused to sign a new deal with Roma.

During the summer, Arsenal were linked with the defender but eventually signed German defender Shkodran Mustafi who has done well so far but with Gabriel not really rated by Wenger and Per Mertersacker still out injured, Arsenal could still make a move for Manolas.
