Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, speaking recently about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s summer move to Liverpool, thinks the youngster could struggle to secure a regular spot at Anfield.
Alex chose to join Liverpool ahead of Chelsea on deadline day and has indicated his interest in playing in the central midfield in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
But former Arsenal striker Henry is of the opinion that the Englishman will find competition for places difficult at his new club, and may not be handed a central role once Brazilian star player Philippe Coutinho is back to full fitness.
Justifying his decision to dump Arsenal for Liverpool, Oxlade-Chamberlain made mention of having confidence that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp can improve him as a player and that the German boss can make him more better than he currently is.
But it appears Henry is not pleased with the England international, and he has voiced out his thoughts.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the former France international admits: ‘I always thought [Alex] didn’t really flourish at Arsenal,’ adding that he is very surprised with how the player chose to move with things.
‘[Alex] also need to bring something to the table [so as] to get better. It is not only the manager [Klopp].’ He added.
Liverpool lost 5-0 to Manchester City at Etihad on Saturday, following their impressive opening performances before the international break.
