Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Theo Walcott is carrying a knock after receiving a kick in yesterday’s Carabao Cup win over Doncaster Rovers.
The England international star was substituted during the second half of the Gunner’s 1-0 victory over Doncaster after sustaining a knock. In his post-match press conference, French tactician Arsene Wenger said the 28-year-old England star was kicked at the back of his knee.
The Walcott scored the only goal of the match in what was rather a drab performance from Wenger’s men. The England international went down near the halfway line in the 75th minute and was immediately replaced by Nigerian Alex Iwobi.
The English League Cup might not be a priority, as the lowest recorded spectator since the Gunners moved to the Emirates Stadium of 44,064 attested to a lack of enthusiasm in the club, but Doncaster and their fans were able to admire a decent performance that contradicts their position in the lower half of League One.
Going by Arsene Wenger’s remarks, the winger should be fit enough to make the substitute bench against West Brom on Monday and to make the starting lineup against BATE Borisov the following Thursday.
