Liverpool stars Daniel Sturridge, Emre Can and Joel Matip are doubtful for the clash with Everton at Goodison Park on Monday evening in what is the 195th Merseyside Derby in the league.
Former Borussia Dortmund and Mainz 05 boss Jurgen Klopp is expected to make a decision on the trio concerning their participation and non-participation in the game against Everton.
England international Sturridge has been out with a calf injury since his side’s 0-0 with Southampton at the St. Mary Stadium and is likely to make an appearance on Monday’s game while German midfielder Emre Can and Cameroun defender Joel Matip have returned to training after recovering from knee injury and ankle injury respectively.
Belgian goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is expected to start in goal again in place of underfire German shot stopper Loris Karius, who was dropped as the first choice goalkeeper ahead of Wednesday’s league clash with Middlesbrough at the Riverside. Long term absentees Philippe Coutinho and Marko Grujic are still out with respective injuries.
Liverpool are presently 2nd on the league table with 34 points from 16 games ahead of the match with Everton. They are nine points off league leaders Chelsea (43 points from 17 games).
Provisional squad: Mignolet, Clyne, Matip, Klavan, Milner, Lallana, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Can, Mane, Origi, Firmino, Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Moreno, Lucas, Stewart, Ejaria, Woodburn, Sturridge.
