While many Liverpool fans are expecting their club to bring in new players this month, the club seem to be more focused on agreeing new deals with their current crop of key players – which isn’t a bad idea in itself.
About two days ago, Samba star Philippe Coutinho secured a long term deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2022.
Reports suggest that after Coutinho’s deal, the Merseysiders are ready to get two more deals done by agreeing contracts with the duo of Lallana and Lovren.
Three days back, James Pearce insisted that Liverpool will certainly offer new deals to Adam and Dejan. Additionally, Pearce in a report yesterday via Liverpool Echo reiterated that the duo will be offered extensions.
Liverpool have glaringly been shaky at the back and the Croatian central defender has never been as good for Liverpool as he was for Southampton. However, Liverpool boss Klopp likes him, so he is going to get a new deal – though some critics thinks he does not deserve one.
Adam Lallana on the other hand has been in the form of his life this season. In 20 league appearances, the England international has scored seven goals and provided seven assists too. So he definitely deserves to get a bumper fresh contract.
Liverpool Echo have not mentioned any terms of the contract that the Reds want to agree with the former Saints attacker. But earlier this January, Express claimed in a report that Liverpool are looking to double Lallana’s wages and make him earn £120,000-a-week, £6.24million-a-year (which is $7.9million-a-year).
