According to new revelations from the reliable Mirror, Liverpool and Southampton will again agree yet another deal. In recent seasons, Liverpool has brought players like Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Sadio Mane, and Nathaniel Clyne into Anfield from Southampton. It appears even more dealings are set to be done.
The new report from the Mirror states that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will be making the move for talented center back Jose Fonte, who reportedly handed in a transfer request about a week ago. The report additionally claimed that Mahamadou Sakho could be moving the other way.
This of course would be a good deal for the two clubs. The Saints wouldn’t have to come up with the full amount for Sakho who could now finally leave Anfield, and Fonte too could leave St Mary’s without further issues.
Nevertheless, in our opinion, we think this might not come into reality. Firstly, Liverpool boss Klopp is not likely to bring in another older defender – not at least in this winter transfer window. And even as that, rivals Manchester United are already rumoured to be chasing Fonte right since last year and will do all that can be done to get his signature if they desire him genuinely.
