Former Chelsea star and current Southampton FC defender Ryan Bertrand has emerged as a target for a handful of top English clubs including Liverpool and Manchester City.
And in a new development, it is understood that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is considering a move to bring the Englishman back to Stamford Bridge, despite that Real Madrid’s Danilo is reportedly closing in on a Chelsea deal.
As things stands now this summer, the premier league champions have been able to land three major signings – Willy Caballero (as a free agent from Man City), Tiemoue Bakayoko (from Ligue I champions Monaco), and Antonio Rudiger (from AS Roma)
But despite a quiet start to the summer transfer market, the west London club are not yet done with activities, and are reportedly still interested in bringing in one or two more defenders.
Real Madrid defender Danilo has been strongly linked with Chelsea and the Evening Standard claimed that a deal is on the verge of being made by the two clubs for the samba star.
With so much talk on Danilo deal, Standard still reported that the Chelsea boss is keeping tabs on Ryan in an attempt to add more options in his defense.
Bertrand moved to Stamford Bridge in 2006 but was only given the opportunity to play just 28 English top flight games before he was sold by Jose Mourinho two years ago.
He has been impressive with the Saints, his future at the club is still uncertain and he has been linked with Man City few months back.
