Man United Target Told Club He Wants To Leave, Current Boss Confirms

Ross Barkley

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has asked to leave Goodison Park , manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed.

The English star has refused to extend his deal with the Toffees, sparking reports that he wants out of the club despite reports that the midfielder turned down a good offer from Everton.

Manchester United have been tipped to move for the midfielder as Jose Mourinho plans to reinforce his midfield options ahead of next summer but will face competition from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

When asked about the future of Barkley with Everton, Koeman said:

“His personal situation is not so difficult, we made a really good offer for him to sign a new contract.

‘Okay, it’s not an Everton future any more, it’s his decision, I need to respect that, and then we will see what happens.”

Prior reports suggested that Mourinho has told Manchester United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward that he should prepare grounds for a last minute transfer deal for Ross Barkley.

It is also understood that none of the interested clubs have tabled a good offer for the midfielder and are ready to wait till the closing stages of the transfer window before making serious attempts for the player.
