During the approach of the transfer window, different dramas are being staged between clubs and their players.
At some points, we see situations where the player desire leaving the club but the club want him to stay. But actually, the opposite is happening at Valencia presently.
During the past few months, speculations were spreading that João Cancelo was being linked to top European clubs such as Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City.
It is obvious that United’s boss Jose Mourinho and City’s manager Pep Guardiola could arguably do with a right back, Manchester United especially if Matteo Darmian returns to Italy, so the speculations deserves attention.
On Tuesday, Spanish newspaper Sport reported that Cancelo could be sold so Valencia would be fine with financial fair play. Cancelo’s performances have been reasonable, as he is a talented player, therefore the Spanish side could get some decent money for him.
Nevertheless, sport outlet Super Deporte stated that the player has asked to stay. The outlet claims that Cancelo told the board he doesn’t want to be for sale and the club should turn down all offers for him.
Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly interested in him, but it seems the player is shying away from a January transfer. However, we are expecting the response of the management of Valencia to the situation.
So far this season, Valencia are not in a good form in La Liga, and we think if they should participate in the January window to sign some players, they would be fine.
João Cancelo reportedly has a €30m release clause, which means Valencia would not want to sell him for less than that.
