Report: Man United Sure Of Sealing Both Barcelona And Man City Deals

New reports has it that Manchester United are quite confident of wrapping up deals to play Barcelona and Manchester City come this summer.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester United chiefs are confident those proposed pre-season friendlies in America will still go ahead.

Revelations emerged that the Old Trafford club were in talks with their Spanish counterparts yesterday. And even though nothing has been reportedly formally signed off, agreements in principle is said to have been reached.

Biggest clubs in Europe are already lining up their fixtures for the highly-rated International Champions Cup to take place across the globe before the start of next season.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will face up to Jose Mourinho on the west coast. Even though the red devils were supposed to play City in China last summer, the game was however called off at the last minute due to torrential downpours and an unplayable surface.

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has announced that he was leaving the Spanish club at the end of the season, so the Camp Nou club will have a new manager in place.

Manchester United are expected to play the La Liga giants at the FedExField in Washington DC with the Man City clash to be played on the west coast.

Crooks: Jose Mourinho Needs This Man United Star Until Pogba Grows Up

According to Garth Crooks, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho needs to keep Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic on side until Frenchman Paul Pogba grows up.

Ibrahimovic scored twice in the EFL Cup final on Sunday to help secure Mourinho’s first major trophy as Manchester United boss.

However, record-signing Paul Pogba was muted during the League Cup showpiece which led to accusations that he tends to wilt on the biggest stage.

Crooks speaking to BBC Sport about Ibrahimovic and Pogba at Manchester United said:

“Nevertheless the reality is that Ibrahimovic is a football ‘senior citizen’ and cannot continue to punish himself like this indefinitely,” Crooks said.

“At some stage Paul Pogba (who went AWOL again against the Saints) has to step up to the plate and start showing some true leadership, especially in the big games. Mourinho has no choice but to keep Ibrahimovic onside, at least until Pogba grows up.”
