Real Madrid talented youngster Mateo Kovacic has emerged as a target for Liverpool this summer and has been linked with a move away from the Spain capital in recent times.
It appears the youngster is destined to play in England this season as in a new development, there are reports that the Anfield club are closing in on him.
Last term, the 23-year-old only started 19 La Liga games for the Madrid club and has struggled to get game time under French boss Zinedine Zidane.
The future of Liverpool star player Philippe Coutinho is still uncertain at Anfield and he is repeatedly linked with a move to Barcelona. And it was reported that Liverpool are considering Kovacic as a replacement for the Brazilian who is understood to have set his heart on making a move.
And Spanish outlet Diario Gol are insisting that Kovacic has a verbal agreement to join the reds before the transfer window closes next week.
It is believed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of the Croatian midfielder and wants him in his squad.
