Ex Chelsea, Liverpool Boss Expresses Interest In Celtic Job

Rafael Benitez

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has confirmed his interest in the managerial job at Scottish champions Celtic who recently wrapped up a domestic treble for the third season in a row.

Celtic have now won the Scottish Premiership title, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup in three straight seasons.

According to respected journalist Peter Smith, Rafael Benitez has expressed his interest in the Celtic job and that the Spanish tactician does not mind taking up the managerial role at the Scottish champions.

For now, the Celtic job is far from the reach of Rafael Benitez after the Scottish champions named former player cum manager Neil Lennon their new permanent manager on a 12-month rolling contract having impressed in a caretaker role during the just concluded campaign.

Neil Lennon replaced Brendan Rodgers in the middle of the season after the ex-Liverpool manager walked out on Celtic to take the Leicester City job.

Former Chelsea and Liverpool manager Benitez is in contract talks with Newcastle United and he could yet leave the Magpies this summer amidst the talks of a possible takeover.

Recent reports claimed that the cousin of the Manchester City owner has made a big bid to buy the Magpies from current owner Mike Ashley.
