Arsenal’s next Premier League opponent Manchester City trained at Napoli’s Stadium on Thursday as City returned to the ground of their 4-2 UEFA Champions League victory on Wednesday night.
Away teams are often permitted to train at their host’s stadium before European matches, but it is a little unusual for them to make use of their Stadium after the match.
City boss Pep Guardiola decided that stay back in Italy and having a light training session before heading back to England – Manchester later on Thursday would be the best possible way for his side to prepare for Sunday’s English Premier League match with Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Many of Man City’s top players who played against Italian side Napoli did not take part in the session, but the likes of defender Kyle Walker, midfielder Yaya Toure, attacker David Silva and forward Gabriel Jesus were involved in the light session.
Kyle Walker did not play on Wednesday as he was supposedly rested of the crucial Arsenal match, while Spaniard David Silva and Gabriel Jesus both started on the Substitute bench and made played few minutes in the second half.
A win against the Gunners on Sunday would see them open up an eight-point lead over City rivals Manchester United, who are the guest of Chelsea later in the afternoon.
