According to reports in Spain, Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho has agreed to join Spanish giant FC Barcelona this summer transfer window.
According to a report on Catalan radio station RAC1 FC Barcelona has stepped up transfer talks with the Brazil international this week, and an agreement is now in place between the attacker and the club.
The Catalan club must now agree on a transfer fee with the Reds and according to Mundo Deportivo, representatives from Barcelona are in England for negotiations.
The Spanish giant have already had an offer of €80 million (£72m) turned down by the Reds but an improved bid will be submitted.
Reports in Spanish media claim that FC Barcelona’s move for Coutinho is partly encouraged by their desire to stop Neymar from joining PSG.
Neymar Jr is believed to be unhappy with the lack of Brazilian influence at Camp Nou and FC Barcelona are looking to correct this with the signing of the 25-year-old forward from Liverpool.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, however, declared that the midfielder is not for sale this summer transfer window.
Klopp told the Liverpool Echo, ‘The problem with these things is that whatever I say it always leaves a little bit of speculation,.’
‘If I say he is not for sale, he is not for sale. There is nothing else to say. It’s a club decision; it’s my decision. That’s how it is.
‘That is so that we can end the speculation and not talk about anything else.
‘With Suarez, I was far away. When the club sold Sterling, I was maybe the last to know about it. So those situations have nothing to do with this one.
