Following Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City at Stamford Bridge last night, lots of reactions have followed, including Phil Neville’s reactions to the blues goalkeeper’s first-half performance during the encounter.
The former Manchester United player was critical of Thibaut Courtois after his mistake at Stamford Bridge against Pep Guardiola’s men.
Chelsea scored first, thanks to Eden Hazard’s early opener who broke the deadlock. However, Chelsea’s goalkeeper gave City the equaliser after his poor pass went to an unmarked David Silva.
Even though Courtois did his best to stop Silva’s shot from going in, the Belgian goalie couldn’t stop Argentine striker Sergio Aguero from finishing the attack from close range.
Nevertheless, few minutes into the game, Eden Hazard successfully restored the home side’s lead from the penalty spot despite that his initial effort was saved by Man City’s goalkeeper.
And the former Man United Man Phil Neville was critical of Thibaut Courtois after the goal-stopper’s first-half error during the important game.
Neville told BBC Sport bluntly that the mistake is another horrific goalkeeping error.
He stated that Courtois gave Aguero a ‘too easy goal’, and that he totally fluffs his lines.
Nevertheless, it’s a mistake, and we all makes mistakes. The Belgium international is however on his way to winning his second Premier League title in three terms ever since he returned from an extended loan period at Atletico Madrid.
