As Diego Costa is expected to leave Chelsea any time soon, the premier league champions have been linked with Alvaro Morata (from Real Madrid), Alexis Sanchez (from Arsenal), and Romelu Lukaku (from Everton) as the Spaniard’s replacement.
However, Sanchez is strongly linked with Bayern Munich while AC Milan are said to be in talks with Real Madrid over the signing of Alvaro Morata, so, Chelsea have been after Lukaku in recent times.
It appears the Belgian is meant to play for Chelsea next season amid interests from Man United too. In a recent development, renowned transfer guru Tancredi Palmeri claims the premier league champions have reached an agreement in principle to sign the Belgian forward.
The Italian journalist has worked for a variety of media outlets and thus, is with a great reputation with a verified Twitter account that has 142,000 followers.
And taking to Twitter this morning, he has gone as far to say the deal is already far down the line and only a fee agreement with Everton is what is left.
The player joined Chelsea as an 18-year-old back in 2011 from Anderlecht in a deal worth around £10m but didn’t get many chances at Stamford Bridge.
He eventually made the switch to Everton in 2014 and has gone on to become one of the best strikers in the premier league. He scored 26 goals in all competitions for the Toffees in the just concluded season and is under contract with the club until 2019.
