Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has disclosed the injury suffered by Chelsea forward Pedro in the Blue’s pre-season friendly win over Premier League rival Arsenal is more severe than it was initially believed.
The former FC Barcelona man was stretched off in the first half of the 3-0 victory in Beijing, China after a heavy collision with Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, with the West London club later announcing that he spent the night in hospital having sustained a concussion and facial injuries.
And the former Italy National team coach – speaking to the media in Singapore ahead of the Blue’s encounter with German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich – declared that the 29-year-old has suffered several fractures.
But the Spain international forward, who returned to the UK after suffering the injury, is expected to return to training with a mask in 10 days time.
The Blues wrote on their official Twitter account: “Conte says Pedro’s injury was more serious than he thought.
“He has multiple fractures, but with a mask, he should train in 10 days.”
The Chelsea manager, who won the Premier League title in his first attempt in Englan also said he plans to play latest signing Alvaro Morata at some point against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
