Former Manchester United Man Delivers His Verdict On Chelsea v Man United draw In FA Cup
Owen Hargreaves pits Mourinho’s side against the Stamford Bridge club in the FA Cup quarter-final draw
The former midfielder admitted that he had risked the wrath of the Manchester United supporters after pitting his ex club against the west London club in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Man United eased into the last eight of the competition after Mourinho’s side came from behind to seal a 2-1 victory against Championship strugglers Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup fifth round.
Danny Graham broke the deadlock in the first half before Marcus Rashford cancelled out his opener before half-time. Then Swede hugeman Zlatan Ibrahimovic continued his goal-scoring run by scoring the winner from the bench with just 15 minutes remaining at Ewood Park.
Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves and former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton were the ones charged with pulling the balls from the hat to decide the quarter-final draw after the defensive champions’ close-fought win.
And then the red devils were pitted against the Premier League leaders at Stamford Bridge in the last eight of the FA Cup.
Hargreaves speaking to BT Sport in the aftermath of an enthralling draw, ensured that he acknowledged that the Manchester United fans might not be best pleased with the last-eight draw.
“Manchester United fans won’t be happy with me for that draw. It will be a magnificent game. It is going to be something special,” Hargreaves said.
United lost 4-0 to Antonio Conte’s at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League earlier this season.
