Official: Deal done as Tottenham beat Chelsea to Fernando Llorente on deadline day

Tottenham Hotspur have announced they have signed Swansea City forward and Chelsea target Fernando Llorente on a two-year contract deal right after the transfer window closed.

According to reports, the Spain international striker cost Spurs a transfer fee of about £12million, with Premier League Champions Chelsea beaten to his capture in a surprise deadline day twist.

The Chelsea target’s good form for Swansea City last campaign played a major part in keeping the Welsh club in the English Premier League, as he netted 15 goals in 33 appearances.

That season ended up being the Llorente’s only season with Swansea, as the North London club have signed him up to deputize for first-choice striker Harry Kane.

The 32-year-old also impressed Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, his former manager at Juventus, but was one of the several players to shockingly turn down a move to the home of the Champions this summer.

Meanwhile, the Welsh club have also announced the signing of Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Bony, who returns after a disappointing time at Manchester City.

Bony netted 35 goals in 70 matches in his first stint at the Liberty Stadium and looks good to replace Llorente up front.

Spurs had a relatively quiet summer until the very last week of the window when they sealed late transfers for Paulo Gazzaniga, Davinson Sanchez, and Juan Foyth, as well as Serge Aurier on deadline day.
