Liverpool and Everton will have to act quickly if they want to sign Fenerbache winger Nani, according to reports in the Turkish media.
Turkish publication, Fanatik claimed that the Merseyside clubs were both interested in the former Manchester United man and are also looking to try and a pip the midfielder’s former club to the coup.
However recent reports from Turkey suggest that both clubs may have to act swiftly if they wish to acquire the player’s services in a cheap deal.
According to Futbolarena, Nani reportedly has a relatively low release clause of around £7million, which would certainly make him affordable to any of the mentioned suitors.
But the catch being that the clause must be triggered by July 1 as it will no longer be active after the date and will give Fenerbache free reign to demand a higher fee for the Portuguese international.
Nani’s agent, Luca Bascherini has even fueled speculation that the player is seeking a move away this summer.
Speaking to Spanish newspaper, AS, Bascherini said: “Nani will make a decision on his future once he is back but he is looking to leave Fenerbahce.”
The 29-year-old signed for Manchester United back in 2007 for a reported fee of £19million after spending two years at Sporting Lisbon.
He went on to make 147 appearances and score 25 goals in an eight year spell with the club. Also during his time at United he went on to win several honours including four Premier League titles, two English League cups and also a Champions League triumph in 2008.
During the 2010/2011 campaign Nani was even named in the PFA’s Team of the Year and was also the Manchester United Player’s Player of the year in the same year.
Towards the end of his time at the Premier League giants, Nani fell out of favour and was succumbed to bench appearances. After eight years at Old Trafford, the winger eventually signed for Fenerbache last summer and has gone onto impress at the Turkish club in his debut season, scoring 12 goals in 47 appearances for the club and in the process help them secure Champions League qualification next summer.
The tricky midfielder has also been a key performer for the Portuguese national team since his debut in 2006 and has gone on to score 20 goals for his country along with making a 100 caps, which in turn has helped him become the fourth most capped player in Portugal’s history.
