Star Player Closer To Liverpool Move: Jersey Number Picked Already

Mohamed Salah

Liverpool are all set to finalise Mohamed Salah’s signing from Roma. And according to reports, the Egyptian star wants to be handed the No.9 shirt once he officially moves to Anfield.

Salah is on the verge of completing a move worth more than £35 million to Anfield and is expected to arrive England on Tuesday night.

The talented forward is expected to sign a five-year deal once he passes a medical as the reds are ready to break their transfer record to sign him.

And the Liverpool Echo claims the Egypt international wants to make a statement of intent at the club by making the iconic No.9 shirt his own.

Current record signing Andy Carroll wore the No.9 shirt after completing a £35million move from Newcastle, and the number has been vacant since Christian Benteke moved to Crystal Palace last season.

Carroll failed to make an impression at the club and was sent to West Ham two years later, and Mohamed will now take over being Liverpool’s most expensive player in their history.

Wearing the No.11 shirt at Roma in the just concluded season, Salah was able to score 19 goals and provided 15 assists in 41 appearances for his Italian club.

Roma are required to sell one of their major players before the end of this month to comply with FIFA rules.
