Arsenal and Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny has reportedly turned down a £10million transfer to former Premier League Champions Leicester, despite knowing his chances at Arsenal may be limited.
The Surprise 2015/2016 Premier League Champions Leicester hoped to seal a deal for the Egypt international midfielder, who played just 8 Premier League matches last season.
However, despite the Gunners accepting a bid for the 25-year-old defensive midfielder, as per The Sun, the Egyptian has dashed the Foxes’ hopes of signing the African – because he does not want to leave the North London club.
According to SunSport, the player is glad to remain at the North London club even if his playing time is limited.
The North Londoners are well-loaded in the central midfield position with Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all fit to perform Elnany’s role perfectly well.
England international Jack Wilshere is also still on the Gunner’s books – despite being told he can leave the Emirate club.
Despite the recent development, it’s believed that the King Power club may try to rekindle the offer later in the current summer transfer window or January.
Meanwhile, Craig Shakespeare’s team completed the signing of £2.5million Eldin Jakupovic from Hull City today.
The 32-year-old will play back-up to first choice goalkeeper Schmeichel next season.
