Former Liverpool player Dean Saunders has thrashed any possibility of Manchester United catching leaders Chelsea in the English Premier League title race this season.
Mourinho’s men got their fourth consecutive Premier League win after beating visitors Sunderland 3-1 on Boxing Day at the Old Trafford. The win also translates into their fifth consecutive victory in all competitions.
Full-back Daley Blind opened the scoring lines at half time before goals from the duo of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the other half sealed the victory’s full three points.
Title leaders Chelsea FC on the other hand continued their impressive run by thrashing Bournemouth 3-0 after Pedro Rodriguez scored either side of half-time and Eden Hazard scored from the penalty spot.
As things stand presently Chelsea are leading second-placed rivals Liverpool with a six points gap after the victory against Bournemouth made it their 12th successive Premier League win.
Ex-football player Saunders recently rubbish talks of Manchester United meeting with Chelsea in the title race.
“I think they are too far ahead. I don’t think Manchester can catch them because of the way Chelsea are playing and how good they are. They’re not conceding goals and they look deadly going forward,” Saunders told Sky Sports News HQ.
The Blues are 13 points ahead of Manchester United, who are currently sitting in the sixth position on the Premier League table.
