The Mirror reports that United sent scouts to watch the right-back play for Ivory Coast against France on Tuesday night in Lens ahead of a possible offer when the transfer windows opens again in January.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is really interested in improving his defense as he still hopes to challenge for titles and the 23-year-old Ivorian who is valued at 18 million pounds seems like the player that can boost his defense.
If this should be a move that United is really interested in making it then puts the future of right-back Matteo Darmain at Old Trafford in doubt. The Italian has becomes frustrated over his role in the team as he has found it hard to pin down a regular shirt.
Darmain has only featured for United five times this season and this has led to speculations that he may be on his way out of the club as it is believed Mourinho does not really fancy him.
Manchester United it seems at not the only club interested in signing the Ivorian as there are reports that claim that their neighbors and arch rivals Manchester City are also interested in him as boss Pep Guardiola is thinking of making a move for the highly rated defender.
The news comes as former coach of Ivory Coast Sabri Lamouchi recently had this to say about the powerful defender
If you were to put him tomorrow in Arsenal’s, Chelsea’s or Manchester United’s team, he would start. An explosive, powerful and quick full-back is exceptional, there aren’t many on the market. He’s not at his best yet, either.’
