Manchester United Are Regarded Favourites To Sign $48Million Star Player

It is a known thing that English Premier League giants Manchester United have been tracking Benfica right back Nelson Semedo for quite some time. And right now, the Portuguese international is back again in the limelight.

A new report (SW via Sport) stated that La Liga giants Barcelona want to sign a top right full back come next summer and Nelson Semedo is their priority.

Manchester United however are reportedly ready to meet Benfica’s asking price of €40 million to hire the services of the 23-year-old star.

And even though the red devils now have a strong contender for the defender in Barcelona, if we should take into consideration the reports published in the past two months, it might be safe to say that United are favorites to beat Barca and secure his signature. Semedo has a release clause of 48 million dollars in his contract.

Last February, a report (via Portuguese source Noticias ao Minuto) claimed that his Portuguese club Benfica have reached an agreement with the Old Trafford club over the transfer of Semedo.

And also back in January, a Portuguese journalist in the person of Goncalo Lopes also claimed that  United have reached an agreement to seal his signing in the summer transfer window.

Semedo has only played just a game for the national side and that came way back in October 2015. This season so far however he has been influential for his club.

Nelson Semedo is a top defender who can be utilized also on the right hand side of the midfield if needs be. In 37 games for his Portuguese club, he has scored 2 times and has also provided 2 assists.
