Manchester United and Spain goal keeper David De Gea has long been tipped to sign for reigning La Liga and Champions League winners Real Madrid.
Reports indicate that two years ago, when Louis van Gaal was in-charge of Manchester United, and Rafa Benitez was handling Real Madrid, a move was reportedly agreed.
The Spaniard was primed to leave the red half of Manchester in a move that would see Keylor Navas head to Old Trafford.
However, it was reported that a faulty fax machine ultimately ensured De Gea stayed and he has since helped the team win three major trophies in the past one year.
Notwithstanding, Real Madrid remain keen on signing the Spaniard and are prepared to do whatever it takes to sign the former Atletico Madrid safe hand.
And Diario Gol claim Manchester United are willing to sell, should the right bid is submitted.
It is said that the Red Devils will not let De Gea go for less than £50million – a move that would make the goalkeeper the most expensive goalkeeper in history.
Jose Mourinho has formerly tried his best to play down talk his prized goal keeper would be leaving.
“David is top in the world, and obviously we want to keep the top in the world,” he said back in May.
