Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has expressed his delight with the way Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan has progressed at his team this season.
Mkhitaryan arrived at the Old Trafford club back in July and he endured a difficult start to life at the club that saw the player miss out on a place in the starting XI for over two months.
Finally, he received a chance to impress during a 4-0 victory over Feyenoord back in late November, and since then, he has gone on to produce a series of fine performances under new boss Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho speaking after the game, didn’t hesitate to heap praise on the way Mkhitaryan had progressed so far this season.
“He had a good impact immediately, then he had a break with the injury against Tottenham, and then he came back and played quite well, so we are happy with him.” he said
Against Hull City, watching the way Mkhitaryan glide across the pitch with his neat touches and penetrating runs, it feels awkward to think that, not so long ago, here is a player who couldn’t even break into the match-day squad.
But the 28-year-old had to struggle and fight his way back into the first team. And it seemed every game he missed, he used the opportunity to analyse and absorb Mourinho’s set-up and learn more about the English game, until he finally received his opportunity to impress and he utilised it properly.
