Manchester United have announced the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Old Trafford.
The 35-year-old makes a stunning return to the Red Devils after his initial wonderful run was scuppered by a nasty cruciate ligament injury, sparking fears that the veteran’s career was over.
Upon his return to United, Ibra has refused to be drawn into talks about his career, insisting that he wants to finish what he started at the Old Trafford while also reiterating his desire to return to the pitch once again.
Prior to this announcement, there have been talks that Zlatan was considering a move to his former side, AC Milan, with suggestions that his agent Mino Raiola held talks with the Italian giants over a potential move earlier this summer.
However, Jose Mourinho is understood to be keen on having Ibrahimovic as a cover and competition for Romelu Lukaku in the central striking position this season.
Also the return of Zlatan to Manchester United could as spell doom for the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial who have had the opportunity to feature in Mourinho’s plans in the absence of the lanky forward.
The former Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona man is expected to regain full match fitness by December and could prove to be a vital addition for the Red Devils in the second half of the current campaign.
