Liverpool have started initial steps to sign Olympique Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in the next summer transfer window, according to reports.
The French forward has been heavily linked to leave the Ligue 1 during the last two transfer windows and reports now have it that the Reds have started significant efforts to see him arrive in England next summer but might face stiff competition from other clubs.
French journalist Julien Laurens claimed:”He [Lacazette] will go to England. Liverpool, Arsenal or Tottenham, I don’t know. You will have to pay around £40m or £50m.”
Reports in the Mirror has also claimed that Liverpool representatives has contacted Lyon and made their intentions to sign Lacazette but has decided to make their approach discreet due to competitions from other clubs in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old forward has also revealed his desire to leave France next summer, saying: “The right moment has arrived to leave. This summer I will need a change of scenery and discover something else, still with the idea of advancing and progressing in terms of football and as a person”.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is said to be a keen admirer of Lacazette’s abilities and even tried to signed him during the last summer window but failed in his attempt with reports that Lyon were holding out for an astronomical fee before allowing him leave the club.
