As the winter window closes, people are already wondering what is happening between Manchester United and Victor Lindelof, as there was a brief silence. Lindelof is one player heavily linked with a move to Manchester United. Well there is now an update.
The Portuguese press this morning stated that Manchester United made a late attempt to try to sign the Swedish defender from Benfica.
It was reported that the club president Luis Filipe Vieira was in England due to some other business, and got another offer from the red devils for the 22-year-old.
Record stated that Manchester United tried to pay the player’s €30m release clause, but the approach was turned down by president Vieira.
But it is surprising because he can’t really turn down the payment of a release clause – that is something for the player to do. So the story seems even more strange.
Realistically, we don’t think a late attempt will take place. Manager José Mourinho already said there would be no new signings. And considering that no defenders left the Old Trafford club this month, the Portuguese tactician was probably telling the truth.
Perhaps something can happen in the summer transfer window, but for now, Lindelof isn’t coming to Man United!
