On the 8th of October 2015, Liverpool unveiled German tactician Jurgen Klopp as their new manager after parting ways with Brendan Rodgers.

Considering his exploits with Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool’s decision to go for Klopp was widely accepted by the Anfield faithful.

After his unveiling ceremony, the German got down to business with the mindset of winning many trophies for the Merseyside club.

Despite signing some world-class players, Klopp failed to lay strong claim for the Premier League glory in his first season at the Anfield stadium. However, he led his new side to the final match of the League Cup and Europa League competition but was unlucky as he was defeated by Manchester City and Sevilla respectively.

Klopp continues to give his employers the impression that he’s the right man for the job as he started 2016-17 season on another fine form.

Irrespective of his fine start to the season, the former Mainz and BVB manager couldn’t surpass his past achievements.

He saw his side finished fourth on the Premier League table, He wasn’t able to get through to Europa League final nor the Carabao cup final.

Klopp was close to breaking his trophy barrier last season as he found his way through to Uefa Champions League final where he came up against Real Madrid.

Much to the pain of all Liverpool fans who travelled to Moscow to support the team, Klopp’s men were thrashed 3-1 by the Galacticos no thanks to Loris Karius’ errors.

Having failed to win a silverware in three seasons, Jurgen Klopp knows he needs to win at least one trophy this season if he must remain as Liverpool manager.

The club’s hierarchy have financially motivated the 51-year-old manager since he was hired, spending a whole sum of £415m on new players.

Having signed quality players — including Naby Keita(RB Leipzig), Alison Becker (Roma) Xherdan Shaqiri( Stoke City), Fabinho (Monaco) — during the summer transfer market, Klopp has no obvious reasons for his inability to lead the team to one major glory this season.

Klopp must go extra miles to ensure that he improves his team’s winning mentality before the end of this season.

However, it is yet to be seen which completion looks more likely for the Reds to win by the end of the campaign.

Premier League’s title race becoming more intense and interesting as Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are involved in a three-horse race to the title. The three clubs have played 12 matches without recording any defeat so far this season.

Klopp stands a chance of winning the Premier League this season but his chances are very limited should his rivals continue to win more matches.

Liverpool’s impressive record in the League hasn’t been transferred to European competitions as they were surprisingly defeated 2-0 by RB Belgrade in their last Champions League outing.

Though they presently occupy the first position in Group D ahead of Napoli, PSG and RB Belgrade, they are still in danger of not qualifying to knockout stages until they defeat Napoli in the next round of Champions League matches.

The truth be told, it is very difficult seeing Liverpool negotiate their way through to this season’s Champions League final except they improve their current form in the European scene.

FA Cup and Carabao cup offer Liverpool the perfect chance to break their barren run and Klopp must take them more seriously.

These competitions involve teams from lower Leagues in England, it shouldn’t be too difficult for Klopp and his boys to beat most of their opponents.

It took Rodgers just three seasons to be fired by Liverpool’s hierarchy after trophyless campaigns, it won’t be surprising if the same is done to Klopp by the end of this campaign should he fail.
