Former Arsenal player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain chose Liverpool over Chelsea before the transfer window was slammed shut, and the reds boss Jurgen Klopp says the Englishman can fill four positions for his side due to his versatility.
Even though the Ox is said to have been displeased at not getting a chance in central midfield whil playing for Arsenal, It appears his new manager at Liverpool is yet to have decided on a particular set role for him at his new club.
The Englishman was a wing-back towards the end of his time with the Emirates club. There were also speculations that he decided to ignore a move to Chelsea because he was trying to avoid playing the same role in Antonio Conte’s squad.
Jurgen Klopp does not currently use a system that calls for wing-backs, but it appears he isn’t committing the £40M star to the central midfield regularly.
Speaking of Alex at his press conference today, Klopp outlined four different positions the player could play in for his side.
“He [Alex] can play in both the number 8 roles and in both wide roles.” he noted.
The German tactician also showed how delighted he is for landing the player and he hailed Oxlade-Chamberlain as a very good football player who is good in both small and big spaces, and a good dribbler and passer.
