Klopp Revealed: FSG Gave Me Money, It’s My Fault Liverpool Didn’t Spend It

It is quite glaring that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has too much faith in his Liverpool’s squad. He trusted the group of players that did so well early on this season, but those players have eventually let him and the fans down. They’ve been able to win once in ten games since January 1st.

The winter transfer window is already closed. But while it thrives, Liverpool supporters were crying out for signings to be made during the transfer window – but none was made despite poor performances, poor results, and injuries too.

Now, Klopp revealed that this was solely down to him and his backroom staff deciding not to spend the money FSG made available to them.

“What’s very important, never blame anybody else for your own mistakes,” Klopp told the Echo. “That’s not the case.

“I cannot change my answer only because we played bad football. I cannot say ‘yes it would be fantastic if the club gave me the opportunity’, we had from the club side the opportunity to do something but we didn’t find the right players.

“That’s because the players were not available.

“We tried different things, it’s not a money issue or whatever different reason,” Klopp admitted.

“I take everything. If you say now ‘not enough players, not good enough players’ I have to take it.

“We have to show the reaction but it will not change my answers because of things like this after a game which I’m not happy about.”

Liverpool made attempts for the duo of Julian Draxler and Julian Brandt. Draxler was offered bigger money at PSG and Brandt was simply labelled ‘unavailable’ – perhaps because the Reds were not keen to pay the required price-tag.

Nevertheless, something now clear is that Liverpool need reinforcements come the summer, and in every departments too – not excluding the attack. But as things stands now, if the current guys failed to sort things now, Liverpool won’t have Champions League football to offer prospective targets.
