Following yesterday’s FA Cup quarter-final clash at Stamford Bridge that saw Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho lost to his former club, the Portuguese coach has made a comment about who he thinks was the best player on the pitch.
The Manchester United boss is of the opinion that France international and record-signing Paul Pogba was the best player on the pitch for Manchester United’s defeat at Chelsea.
The Old Trafford outfit lost their FA Cup quarter-final clash 1-0 to the premier league table leaders.
Jose Mourinho saw his men went down to 10 in the first half after Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera was shown the red card. Mourinho’s boys nevertheless fought valiantly.
Nevertheless, former Leicester City star midfielder N’Golo Kante scored the winner from outside the box to sink Manchester United and saw them knocked out of the FA Cup.
And despite Kante outshining Pogba on the big stage, Jose Mourinho believes that Pogba was the star at Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho looking at things from a positive side, said all his players were phenomenal at the game but Pogba was by far the best player on the pitch.
Mourinho thinks Pogba was a giant on the pitch and after him, the rest boys were fantastic.
Manchester United will return to Europa League duties when they receive Rostov from Russia at the Old Trafford on Thursday.
Jose Mourinho and his men drew 1-1 with Rostov at the first leg, and the way goal in Russia last week already gave them an advantage in the game.
Jose Mourinho, who is already complaining of always being busy with lots of games from different competitions, now have the Europa League and the Premier League to concentrate on.
Chelsea on the other hand have the remaining week to themselves until they meet Stoke City in their next premier league game this weekend.
