Liverpool captain signs a fresh 5-year deal with the club
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Merseyside till 2023 the club has announced on its website.
The 28-year-old midfielder who has made 283 appearances to date for the Reds with 24 goals to his name joined the club in 2011 from Sunderland for a fee of £20 million.
In 2014, he was made the club’s vice-captain. Following the exit of Liverpool club legend Steven Gerard, Jordan became the full captain of the team till date.

A highly elated Henderson was quoted by the website as saying: ‘I’m very happy to have signed a new contract for a long period of time. I’m absolutely delighted.
With 44 caps for England, Jordan Henderson has gone on to also establish himself as a force in the national team helping the Three Lions reach the semi-finals of the just concluded FIFA world cup in Russia.
A delighted Jurgen Klopp showered encomiums on the player who he says is an icon of the club.
This will come as a massive morale booster for the midfielder going into the International break with the England squad who will lock horns with Spain and Switzerland.
