Former Liverpool defender Jamie Redknapp has hailed Chelsea talented player N’Golo Kante as one of a kind.
25-year-old Kante has been quite instrumental for the Stamford Bridge club since his summer arrival from Leicester City.
The France international helped his Chelsea side to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a nice performance in their 2-1 victory against West Ham on Monday night.
And Liverpool legend Jamie Redknapp, who is now a pundit, is of the opinion that Kante’s incredible energy and fitness levels are something he has never seen before.
“I have never seen a player with so much energy, chasing lost causes and turning over possession” Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column.
The pundit described N’Golo Kante to be a combination of the trio of Bryan Robson, Roy Keane and Claude Makelele rolled into one. He confessed that he has never seen a player like Kante who is all action and all over the pitch.
“When I asked Steve Walsh, the Leicester scout who signed him, to tell me their formation, he said: ‘Kante on the right, Drinkwater in the middle… and Kante on the left’.
“I see what he meant watching Chelsea at West Ham on Monday and [I] can see what Eden Hazard meant with his ‘twins’ comment after the game. It is as if Kante is in more than one place.”
Redknapp also noted that the Frenchman targets areas where he senses danger, wherever it may be. He described him like a fire fighter who keeps putting out fires all over the pitch – either to the left, right, through the middle, in an advanced midfield position, or even as a defensive anchorman.
“Young players these days will say ‘I’m a defensive midfielder’, but why do they do that? Kante is a midfielder. Not attacking, not defensive.
