One of the players that flourished in Sir Alex Ferguson’s team and is still doing well in today’s Manchester United team is Michael Carrick.
Micheal Carrick began his career at West Ham United before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 2004 for a fee believed to be £3.5 million.
And in 2006, he eventually moved to the Old Trafford side for £18 million and over 10 years after at the club, he continues waxing stronger.
Nevertheless, the Englishman is ageing (well though) and Manchester United need another versatile midfielder who can be the long term replacement of him.
When former United boss Louis Van Gaal was still in charge of the club, the red devils were heavily linked with former PSV star Kevin Strootman.Kevin Strootman is now playing for Serie A side AS Roma.
And current reports has it that Manchester United are once again linked with him and have moved in to finally sign Kelvin this summer. In fact, a Dutch news outlet known as Soccernews.nl, reported that Manchester United are in advanced talks with the representatives of Kelvin over a summer move.
HOW GOOD IS KEVIN STROOTMAN?
Kevin Strootman is 27-year-old and is a versatile star. He can effectively play both as a defensive midfielder and also as a creative central midfielder. This season already, he has featured in 26 league games for his Serie A side, and has scored 3 times, providing 4 assists in the process.
It was said that his club rates him very highly i.e. around 40 million euros ($43million)
WHAT IF MANCHESTER UNITED EVENTUALLY GOT HIM?
If Jose Mourinho and the Manchester United officials successfully get his signature, Kelvin can be the perfect man to partner with Frenchman Paul Pogba in the center of the park for the club.
