Inter Milan Closing In On £44m Chelsea Target

Nicolò Barella

2010 Champions League winners Inter Milan are closing in on the first transfer of the Antonio Conte era at the club according to the publication from Calciomercato.

Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was appointed the new manager at Inter Milan last month after one year without a managerial job.

The Italian tactician has not been on the sidelines since he was sacked as Chelsea manager last summer despite the fact that he had one year left on his then contract at Stamford Bridge.

Inter Milan have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer window but they are yet to sign anyone officially though all that could change with Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella.

The aforementioned publication from Calciomercato revealed that negotiations are at an advanced stage for Nicolo Barella between his club Cagliari and Inter Milan in a deal reported to be around €50m (£44m).

Italian international Barella was previously a transfer target for West London giants Chelsea during the winter transfer window in January.

He was seen as a potential midfield replacement for Cesc Fabregas who left Chelsea for French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco in January.

Nicolo Barella scored one goal and also provided three assists in 35 games during the just concluded Italian Serie A season.
