Manchester United are concerned over the fitness of match hero Henrikh Mkhitaryan after the midfielder was forced out of Sunday’s clash against Tottenham with an ankle injury.
However, Jose Mourinho is hopeful the injury is not as serious as first feared.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored his first Premier League goal for Manchester United in the opening 45 minutes, giving his club the full 3 points at Old Trafford.
Unfortunately, the Armenian midfielder left the field on a stretcher in the closing minutes after a strong challenge from Tottenham’s Danny Rose.
As things stand now, it is quite obvious the 27-year-old midfielder will definitely miss next Wednesday match against Crystal Palace. Additional information added that he is not expected to feature in the subsequent match against West Brom too.
Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho, speaking about the situation, said:
“It looks like next match, no, but it looks like it is nothing dangerous or needing surgery, so hopefully we have Mkhi back probably Boxing Day.”
Eric Bailly replaced the former Borussia Dortmund star for the closing stages as United held on for a 1-0 win.
Obviously, Mkhitaryan is the match hero with everyone commending his performance, including teammate Michael Carrick who said: “Henrikh Mkhitaryan is so talented, clever, such a nice lad and I just hope his injury is not too bad.”
