Southampton star player Virgil van Dijk has emerged as a target for a handful of top English clubs this summer following his impressive performances at the Saints.
However, it seems he is destined to play at Anfield next season as there are reports that he will be a Liverpool player by the end of the transfer window.
The Dutch defender has been ostracized from the Southampton first-team and didn’t travel with the rest of the squad to France for their preseason training.
Earlier this summer, Liverpool were forced into making an embarrassing apology after Southampton threatened to report them to the premier league for approaching the player illegally.
The two clubs have now settled, previously it was thought Liverpool will ignore pushing for a move to sign Van Dijk. However, Sky Sports claim a deal will still be done.
Even though Chelsea are also linked with the Netherlands international, the player himself is understood to be desperate to join Jurgen Klopp’s and has told his club he wants to play under the German manager.
Klopp has reportedly met with Van Dijk personally and convinced him to make a move to Anfield.
The Merseyside club will have to pay upwards of £60million for the defender, but its believed that they have not made any fresh approach or spoken to either the player or his club.
