Why Hector Bellerin was substituted at half time

Hector Bellerin

There have been lots of concerns over the substitution of Spanish right full-back Hector Bellerin in the Arsenal clash against Crystal Place on Sunday afternoon.

Most fans have attributed the team’s failure to hold on to the defence to his early exit from the game as they conceded two penalties in the game which ended in a 2-2 draw.

It has therefore been revealed that the Spanish man was made to leave the pitch because he had sustained an injury which relates to muscular problems.

This was revealed by ESPN’s Arsenal reporter Mattias Karen on his twitter handle as he claims that the magnitude of the injury is unknown at the moment but expressed hope that the player will be back to action as soon as possible.

The ESPN reporter dismissed issues of tactical substitution as he explained that the Spanish manager would not have taken such a decision to have Bellerin out for Stephan Lichtsteiner but was left with no choice at that moment.

The Arsenal team are already being hit with a series of injuries as they are already lacking options in the left full-back, a development that has Swiss international Granit Xhaka abandon the midfield to play the position.
