It has been an awful start to the season for Brazilian star Fabinho who made a big money move to Liverpool in the summer.
Things have been tough for the former Monaco man since his move to Liverpool and he has failed to live up to expectations so far this season.
Having seen how hard acclimatizing to a new culture and environment has been for the 25-year-old midfielder, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly looking to cash in on his services when the winter transfer window commences in January.
According to Sky Sports, the German manager is looking at the prospect of bringing Borussia Dortmund’s youngster Christian Pulisic into the team, hence, he’s set to release Fabinho in January with AC Milan tipped to be his next destination.
Is this a right move from Klopp, isn’t it too early to give up on a player who has never experience how hard and stressful it is to succeed in England?
Over time, Fabinho has proven his qualities and class during his time in France. He is one midfielder who can seamlessly score many goals despite being a defensive midfielder.
While he was at Monaco, Fabinho wasn’t just regular starter, he was equally a consistent player whose displays often wow the crowd.
Though he’s yet to score a single goal for the team after three Premier League matches, Fabinho is gradually getting used to playing in England and that was obviously seen in the last games he played before the international break.
Apart from finding the back of the net, Fabinho’s defensive quality shouldn’t be overshadowed by his lack of goals.
The player helped the backline in numerous situations during his last three consecutive starts for the team. This indicates he is a versatile man who could be very useful whenever Klopp’s decides to change tactics during games.
Klopp should never think of letting the impressive and workaholic midfielder leave in January as that might be one of his greatest undoing throughout the campaign.
Meanwhile, Klopp can’t be so sure that Pulisic won’t struggle in his first season at Anfield just as the Brazilian.
Pulisic is a very wonderful and great youngster but his endurance and physical strength is largely untested.
This is why Klopp needs to give Fred more time- at least a full season – to learn and understand the League before deciding whether to sale him or retain him.
Though Fabinho hasn’t justified his price tag, he looks like a great addition to Liverpool’s team and he will definitely come out good with time.
All that he needs is just a goal to boost his confidence level. Once that is achieved, the real Fred who cost the Reds £43.7m in the summer would be seen in subsequent matches.
Once the League resume next week, the Reds will be engaged in a very busy fixtures until February, therefore, klopp must hold on to the Brazilian’s services as he will need all his players to remain in fine and perfect shape throughout the festive period.
