Giroud Treble Confirms Europa League Quarterfinal Spot

Ex-Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud was the star of the show after he scored a hattrick for Chelsea in their thumping 5-0 away win over Dynamo Kyiv FC of Ukraine in the Europa League.

The result confirmed the Blues’ spot in the quarterfinals following their 8-0 aggregate victory over the Ukrainians.

Chelsea had one foot in the last eight of the competition after winning the first leg 3-0 at home courtesy goals from Pedro Rodriguez, Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The West Londoners didn’t rest on their impressive performance from the first leg as they went on to record a more emphatic win in the second leg.

Giroud gave the Blues an early lead in the 5th minute before completing his brace on 33 minutes.

Marcos Alonso put the tie beyond the reach of the hosts with a third Chelsea goal on the stroke of halftime.

Giroud hit his hattrick on 59 minutes before Callum Hudson-Odoi wrapped up the convincing 5-0 victory for Chelsea with twelve minutes left on the clock.

The Frenchman is the highest goalscorer in the Europa League with eight goals after his latest feat for the Blues.

Chelsea join other qualifiers like Arsenal, Napoli, Slavia Prague, Eintracht Frankfurt, Villareal and Valencia in the quarterfinals.
