Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has said that it has been a tough start to life at the Bridge for England international Danny Drinkwater since his summer transfer.
The England international midfielder joined Chelsea from Leicester City in August but has had to struggle with fitness problems and hasn’t been able to seal a regular playing spot in the Chelsea first team.
Indeed, the midfielder has been limited to only three English Premier League starts this campaign, netting one goal in 10 matches.
He has played 15 matches so far in all competitions this season and started the Blues’ Emirates FA Cup third-round encounter with Norwich City on Saturday.
However, Frank Lampard has said that he is an admirer of the 27-year-old midfielder and is backing the former Leicester man to become a key figure for the west London outfit.
Danny Drinkwater will be hoping to start a game for his team when they return to League Cup duty on Wednesday with the first leg of their crucial semi-final encounter against London rivals Arsenal at Chelsea’s home ground at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea, who currently sit third in the English Premier League log, drew 2-2 with Arsenal at The Emirates Stadium in the English top flight a week ago.
