Premier League manager says Rock Solid Liverpool defender too expensive for his club

Mamadou Sakho

Frank de Boer says Crystal Palace won’t pay Liverpool’s asking price for Mamadou Sakho.

The France international defender – who is also a target for Premier League club West Brom – played eight matches on loan for Crystal Palace between February and April last term.

Sakho was a regular starter in Jurgen Klopp’s debut season in charge of Liverpool but has now fallen behind Devan Lovren, Joel Matip, and Ragnar Klavan in the center-back selection pecking order.

According to Sky Sports earlier in the summer, Sakho has no future at Anfield and Liverpool would be ready to sell if their £30m asking price is met.

But Palace manager De Boer is not willing to pay such a transfer fee for a player the Reds signed from Ligue 1 giant Paris St-Germain in back in September 2013 for a reported £18million.

“Everybody knows he (Sakho) had a major impact (at the club) last term and, when he (Sakho) is available for us (Palace), I (De Boer) think that is a quality addition to the club (Palace),” De Boer told British tabloid The Guardian.

“It is not like this at the moment because he (Sakho) is much too expensive for the club (Palace).”

Earlier in the month, Palace manager De Boer spoke of his uncertainty that the club would sign the strong Liverpool defender before the summer transfer window slams shut.
