According to reports, former Chelsea and Liverpool Spanish hero Fernando Torres is very close to sealing a surprise free transfer to Mexican side Queretaro this summer.
The former Spain international is out of contract at Atletico Madrid and is free to have discussions with other clubs. As things stand now, it appears the 33-year-old is closing in on a new move that could go through anytime from now.
It is glaring Torres have been past his best following his spectacular career playing at the top level in Europe. Even though he has been a key member of Simeone’s squad in recent seasons and scored 28 goals in the last three seasons, the striker isn’t replicating the same stuffs we see him do back then at Liverpool.
Despite being a reliable squad player at this level at Atletico Madrid, the Spaniard is now ready for a spell out of Europe.
The move could be his final one before hanging up his boots. Former Barcelona player Ronaldinho also joined the Mexican club towards the end of his playing days.
Of course, the Mexican league is not as competitive as the Spanish La Liga, perhaps, the Spanish striker would show a few stuff before leaving the pitch finally.
