Pundit Revealed What Will Make Chelsea Manager Very Happy With The Club.
Pat Nevin talked about why he felt Antonio Conte will be encouraged by Chelsea’s performance in a 2-0 victory at Wolves in the FA Cup
The retired Scottish player thinks Antonio Conte will take encouragement from his side’s 2-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
The former Juventus manager opted to make a number of changes for their trip to Wolves in the fifth round as the blues look to complete the double in the 2016-17 season.
The trio of Nathan Ake, John Terry and Kurt Zouma impressed in Chelsea’s defense as the Italian coach refreshed his defence for the trip to Paul Lambert’s side.
Pedro Rodriguez scored the opener to continue his excellent form before Spanish star Diego Costa sealed a 2-0 win for the Stamford Bridge club.
Chelsea are currently 10 points clear of second-placed Manchester City in the league table and Conte’s side will take on United at Stamford Bridge in the quarter-final of the FA Cup.
However, former Chelsea player Pat Nevin, writing in his column on Chelsea’s website, discussed what lessons Antonio Conte will have taken from the Blues’s 2-0 win against Wolves.
“Squad morale is helped by others getting [a] chance, but the run keeps going and the manager knows [just] who is capable of fitting in to the Premier League side when needed,”
“By the looks of it most of them would slot in pretty effortlessly. The front line was ultra-positive even if Pedro was ostensibly playing in a deeper starting position than is considered his normal one. It didn’t seem to hamper him when he popped up to score the opener of course.
“Diego Costa back on [the] score sheet after a short gap is also helpful but even the players that were ‘rested’ can look upon the positives.” Nevin said.
Chelsea are yet to win the FA Cup since 2012.
