England midfielder Jack Wilshere, who is presently on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal to fellow English Premier League (EPL) side Bournemouth has said his aim is to pen a new deal with the North London outfit.
The 24-year old’s current contract runs out at the end of 2018 and the Arsenal academy product wants to use his loan spell at Bournemouth to get back to full fitness and prove to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger that his long-term future lies at the Emirates Stadium.
Wilshere, who has had to battle with a lot of injuries in a relatively short time, made this known in an interview with Sky Sports. Reacting to Arsene Wenger’s comments that he would be given a new contract said that: “At the moment, my head is in Bournemouth.”
He further told Sky Sports that: “I know as much as everyone else knows.
“I read what the boss at Arsenal said and at the moment I’m focused on performing for Bournemouth and putting myself in a position where Arsenal want to offer me a new contract and I’m in a strong position at the end of the season.
“At the moment, I’m taking each game as it comes, working hard and I’m looking forward to the next six or seven months here at Bournemouth. We’ll see what happens after that.” Wilshere added.
