Chelsea striker Diego Costa is not only linked with a move out of Stamford Bridge, but is currently in the good book of many Chelsea fans.
Many Chelsea supporters feels his heart is no longer with them, with some fans already labelling him ‘Anti-Chelsea’. The Spanish striker has been without a goal in his last four Premier League games in a Chelsea jersey.
However, his Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has defended his performance after their 3-1 win against Bournemouth – a match where he failed to score again.
Despite Costa being heavily criticised, the former Juventus manager has played down any rumours about Costa’s form.
Even while former Chelsea manager Glenn Hoddle was not impressed with Costa’s performance in the game, Conte was still of the opinion that the Spaniard performed well. He defended Costa further by remarking that the striker’s attention is on the team and not just individual goal statistics.
The former Italy head coach was asked after the match whether the forward had a bad game, and he replied in the affirmative, but not without adding that he played a part in bringing up the first goal.
Conte noted that Costa is committed to the team and fought a lot for the team – which is important as the team won the game.
He concluded by saying he is happy with Costa’s performance, and even though he is not scoring at this moment, the striker is still totally involved in the team.
