Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas finally completed his much speculated switch to Ligue 1 side Monaco on Friday and he can’t wait for his Ligue 1 debut on Sunday.

The 30-year-old Spaniard played his last game for the Blues last weekend when he captained the team to a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the third round of the FA Cup competition.

The move to the struggling Thierry Henry’s side reportedly cost £10m and he would be hoping to justify his price tag by helping the team avoid relegation by the end of the season

After completing his switch to Monaco, the former Arsenal star took to Twitter to shower praise on Chelsea players, fans and board members for the hospitality they showed him throughout the four years he spent with them.

However, he revealed his readiness to get started with his new team as he tweeted: “Wow. I’m honoured to announce that I will be starting an exciting journey with this wonderfully historic Club. @as_monaco will be my home for the next 3.5 years and I cannot wait to start this new challenge. #daghemunegu #NowItsTime”

Fabregas will reunite with his former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry and they will be willing to work together to lift Monaco out of their shocking relegation zone as soon as possible.

Having signed Fabregas, the French manager will now turn his attention to another experienced defender and he’s been linked with Chelsea’s want-away star Gary Cahill who is also a target for struggling Fulham.
